Grades 2-7 Attend VI Symphony Presentation

The Vancouver Island Symphony will perform Mayhem in the Museum of Music February 17, 2012 at the Port Theatre in Nanaimo. Considered to be one of Pierre Simard’s best written Educational Programs, Mayhem in the Museum of Music HEAVILY focuses on the orchestra
itself, and its process of growing over the centuries from strings only to full fledged symphony.

It features a night-shift security guard, Jimmy, who works in the composers hall in the museum where the belongings of the greatest composers in music history are displayed. Jimmy himself is a composer who is preparing a piece for his mother’s birthday. He realizes he only has one day left and he asks for help out loud while working and suddenly the
composers from the music history display begin to appear.

Students will enjoy hearing the different sections of the orchestra as the composer’s come to help Jimmy: Georg Friedrich Handel, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Ludwig van Beethoven and Jean Sibelius to name a few.
